Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name (if provided)
• Authentication credentials via Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email/password

Learning data

As you use the App, we store:

• Lesson completion records (which lessons you've completed, scores, time spent)
• Vocabulary progress and spaced repetition state (familiarity levels, review schedule)
• Streak and daily activity data
• Your answers to exercises

Audio recordings

When you use a speaking exercise, your voice is recorded on your device and sent to a speech recognition provider to be turned into text: Soniox, or, if Soniox is unavailable, ElevenLabs or Google Cloud Speech-to-Text. We do not store your audio recordings. These providers process the audio to return a transcript under their own data processing terms.

Answer explanations

When the App explains a mistake, the text of the exercise and your answer are sent to Google Gemini to generate the explanation. No audio or account details are included.

Analytics data

We use PostHog to collect usage analytics, including device type, operating system, screen size, app version, and how you interact with the App. This helps us understand usage patterns and improve the experience. PostHog may collect device-level identifiers for analytics purposes.

We may also use PostHog session replays to record a sample of user sessions. These replays capture interactions such as taps and scrolls. Session replays do not capture keystrokes in input fields or passwords. Recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Crash reports

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic data. This includes device model, OS version, and stack traces when errors occur. Crash data is used solely to identify and fix bugs.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate the App, including saving your learning progress
• Authenticate your identity and maintain your account
• Track your streaks and spaced repetition schedule
• Give feedback on your pronunciation and answers
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the App
• Diagnose and fix technical issues

Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Supabase — Authentication, database, and data storage (privacy policy)
• Soniox — Speech recognition for pronunciation exercises (privacy policy)
• ElevenLabs — Backup speech recognition (privacy policy)
• Google Cloud Speech-to-Text — Backup speech recognition (privacy notice)
• Google Gemini — Explanations of exercise mistakes (privacy notice)
• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — Account authentication
• PostHog — Product analytics (privacy policy)
• RevenueCat — Subscription management and purchase validation (privacy policy)
• Firebase Crashlytics — Crash reporting (privacy policy)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase's cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (TLS) and secure authentication, to protect your data. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention

We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data (see account deletion)
• Export your data by contacting us

Children's privacy

The App is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information beyond what is described in this policy. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information that concerns you, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
